Dr. Linda Ventriglia-Navarrette

Dr. Linda Ventriglia-Navarrette is the Director for the Center for Teaching Excellence and English Learning in Sacramento, California. She is an Associate University Professor and Lead Faculty for the Best Practices in teaching Masters for National University. Dr.Ventriglia has degrees from Harvard University, Claremont University and Santa Clara University. She has a Masters in Counseling, a Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction and a Masters in Public Administration from Harvard University. She completed three years of postdoctoral research as a Harvard Ford Foundation Fellow at the Harvard School of Education in second language acquisition and literacy development. A former teacher, school psychologist and administrator, Dr. Ventriglia- Navarrette is an educational consultant to school systems across the United States and internationally.
She has also served as the Chief Consultant to the California State Legislature on the Education and Workforce subcommittee. She is the author of several books and curriculums including: Conversations of Miguel and Maria How Children Learn a Second Language (Pearson), Ready for English, English Language Development Curriculum (National Textbook), Santillana Intensive English Grades K-6 (Santillana USA), Opening Doors Standards-based English Development Workbooks Grades K-6, Santillana Intensive English Middle School and Standards-Based Benchmarks (Santillana USA). She is also the author of the Best Practices in Teaching series and the Best Practices Masters in teaching University degree. She served on the English Learner California State Advisory Committee for the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing and helped write the World language credential.
Dr. Ventriglia has conducted national and international research on effective language learning strategies. She has received FLAP grants for the teaching of both Spanish and Mandarin and has directed dual language programs. She is the 2009-2010 recipient of a FIPSE innovative education grant from the United States Department of Education and a 2012-2016 National Professional Development Grant from the United States Office of Second Language Acquisition. Dr. Ventriglia has authored a number of articles in major newspapers and educational journals. She has been featured in a number of major newspaper articles and educational journals including the California Educator which is circulated to 350,000 teachers.
